Grilled Chicken Feet in Saigon

Lee and Yeung picked us up on two wheelers and I holding Arjun in between me and Lee, Satya behind Yeung set off for Food street. Food street is a half a mile stretch of road where food is being made and sold from small kiosks or carts. The evening traffic is quite busy in Saigon and we veered through many gaps in between vehicles and took last minute yellow light turns more than a few times. It was all very exciting and a bit scary because I was holding little Arjun.

After learning that we ate pork and beef Lee heaved a sigh of relief(since he could share so much more with us) and we started off with a Vietnamese classic, grilled Chicken feet with sweet and spicy chilly sauce.

We also had freshly squeezed orange juice and some skewers of marinated beef. The chicken feet was soft and gelatinous but amazingly flavorful and toothsome. The beef was savory and falling apart and hard to stop eating

Then we took off and crossed many vendors selling myriad grilled meats, vietnamese rice pizza and Kem which is vietnamese ice cream.

The crowds were truly bustling with hardly any space to see ahead or see ones feet. Satya held Arjun and I held my purse dearly( we were told to be careful)as we zeroed in on a couple of women selling snails. Lee handed us huge black snail shells which had a toothpick sticking out.

Always eat your herbs !
